Legislative Day Thirty-One
By Jason | March 4, 2009
Yesterday the SB 136, which is a bill to eliminate the requirement for cooperative education funds passed out of the House Commerce committee by one vote. The bill will be up for floor discussion very soon, and I hope that we will be able to defeat the bill, or attach an amendment to lessen the burdon on cooperatives.
Local Government Committee was very interesting today. SB 115 was up for discussion, this bill simply clarifies that for landowners to petition for a public hearing on a planning and zoning issue, that the landowners must be registered voters. This bill is desparately needed because if any landowners hope to petition for a public hearing they need to have access to the landowners who reside in their zoning district and that they are obviously registered to vote.
